The Verb to 'BE'
"Be" verbs are the most irregular verbs in the English language.
The different variations of the 'be' verbs can be seen below in the tables that I have made.
Note: A contraction here is the short form of the subject + 'be' verb. So, the first example I+am = I'm
Some rules from the table are outlined below.
The 'be' verb and subject should match
Negative sentences must have 'not' after the 'be' verb.
I am not a doctor.
The 'be' verb comes before the subject in interrogative sentences .
The 'be' verb and subject should match
- I am a teacher.
- He is tired.
- We are here.
